How can the public sector be an ally for early childhood?
Early childhood is the foundation of public policies
Prioritizing early childhood in the development and implementation of public policies is both urgent and essential for all public administrators. The quality and integration of services for children up to age 6 and their families are critical to reducing inequalities and promoting full child development during this pivotal stage of life. Evidence shows that investing in early childhood yields the best returns, benefiting not only the child and their family but society as a whole.
Early Childhood First
-
The Fundação Maria Cecilia Souto Vidigal has launched the ‘Primeira Infância Primeiro’ (‘Early Childhood First’ / ‘PIP’) platform to assist public administrators in crafting policies for early childhood. The platform offers tools and over 40 indicators, including infant mortality rates, prenatal care, and access to daycare and preschool across Brazil’s 26 states and 5,570 municipalities. The data covers five key areas of child development: health, safety and protection, nutrition, education, and parenting.
